John WesleyDied: Circa 1791 - London, England
John Wesley was an English cleric and theologian and the principal founder of the Methodist movement. As a priest in the Church of England, he played a significant role in the 18th-century evangelical revival in Britain. Wesley organized Methodist societies, class meetings, and preaching circuits, which formed the institutional basis of Methodism as a distinct religious movement. He was also a prolific writer, publishing sermons, theological works, and hymns, and his ideas had a lasting impact on Protestant Christianity and religious organization.
